Student volunteers help with a variety of tasks at the conference, such as assisting in the sessions, preparations for the exhibitions, photography and technical support. Being a student volunteer is a unique experience that allows to:

  • Collectively produce an inspiring conference and learn from each other

  • Get insights into the latest design and research in the area of participatory design.

  • Get to know people from academia and beyond that might be relevant to your own work, those behind inspiring papers, books, and projects.

  • Conference fee waiver (transportation and accommodation are your responsibility).

Full time students at any level (BA, MA and PhD) are welcome to apply, old and new friends with or without prior experience in PDC.

Important dates:

  • 28th February 2020 Student volunteers’ application deadline

  • 31st March 2020 — Notification to selected student volunteers

Application Process

For the 16th edition of PDC the student volunteer program will be coordinated with the volunteer program of the Festival de la Imagen that hosts the conference. We will keep a compact and committed PDC student volunteer team. As the production advances, we will know, and provide more details of these synergies. To apply prepare a one (1) page application letter that includes:

  • Full name, level of studies and institution you are enrolled at

  • Languages spoken

  • A brief introduction of yourself and your motivation to attend PDC as a volunteer (approx. 2 paragraphs);

  • List of any previous experiences as volunteer in academic conferences or social events;

  • Also indicate if you have submitted a contribution to the conference (paper, workshop, student project posters, etc)

Send this information by email to no later than February 29th 2020

Selected students will be given more details about the tasks and scheduling. PDC can provide with an invitation letter, should it be need for visa purpouses or other.
